Summer Cantaloupe

This is a hope to not forget

this is an attempt to remember.

Fighting fatigue of everyday banter

I keep a cantaloupe on a windowsill

it will ripe in time.

Autumn is certainly here

rewardingly placing itself in every corner

we deserve peace after fireworks of summer.

Random memories are swarming my head

in the morning after Sunday service

sullen remnants of what has been

thoughts are detached fugitives

attempts of infraction won't result in their capture

so I made a conscious choice to relinquish.

This is a power of a will in action

this is an attempt to remember joy a little longer.
